Conventional marketing of open source software and applications is under a lot of pressure because of the big IT giants and the deep pockets. Added to that is the political power of big business and the disruption of the open source paradigm that counteracts the long held belief that ‘nothing free is good enough’. However these days, that view is in trouble in relation to technically astute business. The big powers fear of movement towards open source is becoming true. Their political capital of scaring none technically astute big businesses away from open source is not working. Most businesses are looking for high quality and cost conscious information technology solutions without bondage.
Businesses are becoming smarter, better informed and better connected to evaluate various offerings. It's increasingly hard to pull the wool over people's eyes with classy talk and sales conniving.
